Fugitive accused arrested after 13 and a half years

The police arrested the fugitive accused after 13 years and 7 months, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the court in the case of extortion.

36-year-old Saravan Neva of Dhankuta Municipality-6: Khadgi was arrested on Thursday, said District Police Office Spokesperson (DSP) Omprakash Khanal. Shrestha was sentenced to 10 years in prison on 25 Baisakh 2068 in the case of coercion by Tank Bahadur Magar for being a pro-government member of Nepal. 

Spokesman Khanal said that Shrestha, who has been living in hiding for years, was arrested from Dharan sub-metropolitan city-5 Deurali in Sunsari. "They were searched and arrested on the basis of secret information," he said, "filed in court and jailed."

The arrest was made by the team under the command of police constable Mahendra Kharel of the district police office.  

Meanwhile, police said that 30-year-old Dipraj Rai of Sahidbhoomi rural municipality-4 Pipley, who was absconding two months ago, was also arrested on Wednesday. Rai was sentenced to imprisonment by the district court in the vehicular manslaughter case. The police said that he was taken into custody from Dhankuta-7.
