In Chasmitar Mavi located in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-3, which is suffering from water scarcity, sky water has been purified and consumed. After the problem of drinking water, rain water was collected and purified for consumption in the school.
Kamal Giri, spokesperson of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality, said that water purification equipment has been purchased at a cost of Rs. Water is collected from one RCC and one zinc-roofed building of the said school.
The water from the two roofs goes into three tanks of 10,000 liters. Then it is drawn into a tank of 1000 liters . After purifying it in a tank of 500 liters from there, it is collected again in a tank of 500 liters, assuming complete purification. The headmaster of the school, Tejkumar Rai, said that the arrangement of drinking water was arranged from four streams after passing out of it. In addition, another 39,000 liters of water has been stored in a tank, Prof. Rai said.
Rai said that after the provision of water, the school's 500 students up to class 12 are comfortable. "Earlier, students were not allowed to drink water, they used to go out to the shop and buy noodles and biscuits and ask for water while they were eating. We used to have the office assistants carry water for us teaching staff," Prof. Rai said, "now it has become very easy."
The place is a place with extreme lack of water . The students of that school have to carry water at home. "They go to fetch water at 5 in the morning and come home only at 9 o'clock, and when they come to school after eating, it's around 10:30 a.m., they don't even get to study and do their homework," Prof. Rai said.
Rai said that the school started using the water supply scheme from June 10. From the 9th of November, the donor agency has formally handed over to the school . Rai said that the school was handed over and inaugurated in the presence of Mayor Vimala Rai, Deputy Mayor Ramesh Kumar Raut, Technical Officer of Best Water Organization Gokul Dangal, donors of Best Water Organization Arpana Pokharel, Anmika Aryal, Saroj Bhandari and local parents.
Giri, the spokesperson of the municipality, said that this plan was possible due to the initiative of city chief Rai and coordination with donor agencies. "After the completion of the scheme, the students and teachers have become comfortable in such dire water conditions," he said.
The 'Major Halesi Lifting Water Project' under construction to lift water from the Dudhkoshi river to about five thousand consumers in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality is in a standstill. The water supply project, which was started in 2074 and was completed at a cost of 96.45 million 4 thousand 138 rupees by the Government of Nepal, has stalled after reaching the final stage.
