Former minister Rajendra Mahato has said that the naming of Koshi province should be based on identity. In a press conference held in Biratnagar on Friday, Mahato claimed that the naming of 'Koshi' was wrong and demanded that it be corrected immediately. He added, "It has done extreme injustice to the identityists."
Mahato, the coordinator of Rashtriya Mukti Kranti, said, 'The people of Limbuwan, Khambuwan and Kirat demanded their identity on the basis of history, but the government with a single ethnic mindset stopped Koshi.' He said that a large protest program was organized in Biratnagar, Eastern Command on Saturday. He said, "The main demand of our program is the cancellation of the name of Koshi province and the restructuring of the state." Mahato, who also objected to the structure of the province, said that he had not thought about what name to replace Koshi. "Let's cancel it first and then think of a name", Mahato said.
Mahato mentioned that even in the 104-year-old monarchy and 240-year-old republic, Nepal is running according to the principle of 'one identity, one country' Mahato claimed that because of this, the country and the constitution are heading towards failure. Buddha Chiring Moktan, the leader of the
campaign, said that the country is being run with a single ethnic and racial mindset and this is causing problems for the partisans of pluralistic nationalism. "Even in the state organs, single caste thinking prevails", Moktan added.
