Huber Dam provides electricity, drinking water, and agricultural water to cities in the western United States
After breakfast, Bhai Dilli, Pukar and Arjunji leave for the fair. Geeta informs us about Huber Dam while having breakfast. I also thought, 'After reaching Las Vegas, Huber Dam has to be reached.' She was warning us because it will be very hot. After traveling, we were prepared to face any situation.
While going to Huber Dam, I remembered our Kulekhani Reservoir in Nepal. Electricity is generated as needed by storing water in the Kulekhani reservoir.
This is Nepal's first reservoir hydropower project. Many times I have been to Kulekhani. Now Kulekhani Reservoir has become a center of tourist attraction. This reservoir has become a tourist destination for boating, fishing and trekking. Famous as Indrasarovar, this reservoir is very beautiful. There are many dams that generate electricity in Nepal, but not all of them have been reached. It is a good opportunity for us to visit this historic dam when we come to America.
As the city recedes, small black hills are visible. Some small pothras are seen in the lower part of the hill and black rocks in the upper part. We are not sure how hot it is outside because we are inside in AC. There are barren black hills. Greenery is nowhere to be seen. The vehicle is at its own pace. It looks like a big pond in the distance, but as we got closer, we realized that it was a solar farm. Hey! How big is the area? When we saw the solar farms spread on both sides of the road, we wondered if we could use the sun's energy that is being wasted in us and avoid the burden of loadshedding.
Geeta was saying, "Brother, the government will give loans to cultivate solar energy here and the government will buy the generated electricity." It didn't take me long to think that the people really have faith in the government and the government is also accountable to the people, that's why America is called the country of dreams.
Everywhere we traveled in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Arizona, we found the roads to be the same, smooth and wide. Road development is also important. I sat in the back seat and wondered about the path of Nepal and America, no, it doesn't match anywhere. It is shocking to see that those occupying the state are unable to fulfill even the smallest needs of the people. Drowning in many arguments, the destination i.e. Huber Dam has arrived.
The four-five-story parking lot carved out of the mountain wall is magnificent. Parking information of all floors is displayed by the monitor. We parked the car on the third floor and went down through the lift. In America, the system for citizen facilities is getting better. Facilities like drinking water, toilet, parking etc. were arranged in every tourist places. Here too, there were those facilities.
Made sure we got out of the elevator. After ten minutes of walking, we reached the bridge. There was an unspeakably hot wind blowing, even at eleven o'clock in the morning. The crowds of tourists were the same. Information is being streamed through monitors along the way. Information on how the dam was constructed can be obtained through various means. Looking down from the bridge, the boats and people look like ants, looking deep as if it were a desert.
A motor bridge has also been built over it. This dam, which was built almost a hundred years ago, now looks like it was built recently. "Brother, let's go to Arizona State," I said. Geeta wanted us to travel to as many places as possible. After reaching the middle of the bridge, I realized that the bridge is the border between Nevada and Arizona. Then we also stepped into the state of Arizona.
Huber Dam is a large hydroelectric dam in the United States. This dam is constructed by blocking the Colorado River. It is located on the border of Nevada and Arizona. This dam was built in the 1930s. This dam is a great example of engineering achievement of that time. This dam, built at a time when there was no technology like today, is a unique example of willpower.
We also got information about Huber Dam through information boards at many places. It was originally called Boulder Dam but was later renamed after US President Herbert Huber. Its height is 726 feet, width 660 feet. It is also the world's largest artificial reservoir. About 2080 megawatts of electricity produced by this dam are being consumed by about two million people in America. Thus we collected maximum information about Huber Dam.
Huber Dam was started in 1931 and completed in 1936. It cost 49 million dollars to build this dam at that time. This dam supplies electricity, drinking water, and agricultural water to many cities in the western United States. Millions of tourists visit here every year. There are many such historical places in America - we had to visit but we were only guests for a short time. Now we returned to Los Angeles that same day with images of Huber Dam in our minds.
