The first petrol station operated by the Nepali Army has come into operation in Karnali Province. The Ripumardini Petrol Station, constructed at Mangalgadhi, Birendranagar-9, Surkhet with an investment of around 50 million rupees from the Nepali Army Welfare Fund, was formally inaugurated on Sunday.
The station was inaugurated by Major General Dipesh Jung Shah, Commander of the North-West Division. Operated by the Nepali Army Welfare Fund, the station has a total storage capacity of 96,000 liters—48,000 liters each for petrol and diesel.
The Nepali Army has stated that the station will provide quality petroleum products to consumers in Karnali in an easily accessible manner. “The station has been established with the objective of ensuring regular supply of petroleum products in the province even during natural disasters, supply disruptions, and other adverse situations,” said Commander Shah. “This is the seventh petrol station operated by the Nepali Army across the country.”
According to him, it is expected that government agencies, industries, businesses, the transport sector, and the tourism sector will receive reliable fuel services, and that the province’s fuel supply management will be further strengthened. The station will operate 24 hours a day. The Nepali Army has stated that the income generated from here will be invested through the Nepali Army Welfare Fund in health, education, employment, and other welfare programs for serving and retired soldiers and their dependent families. Himalayan Bank has also started providing services from its ATM at this location.
