The service in Dolpa has been affected after the Passport Department implemented a new passport system.

Service recipients who reached the District Administration Office, Dolpa to get their passports made have been forced to return home without working as the application form could not be submitted.

According to Chief District Officer Junu Hamal Dhakal, technical problems have been seen in the process of submitting passport applications for the last three to four days.

The service flow has been affected as the system has not accepted the applications even after completing the online process.
Dhakal said that due to the new system implemented by the department across the country, similar problems have been seen not only in Dolpa but also in other districts. 'A technical problem has arisen during the implementation of the new system,' she said. 'We expect the service to be regular soon as the department is trying to resolve it.'

Service recipients who have traveled for several days from various rural settlements in the district to reach the district headquarters, Dunai, to get their passports made have been the worst hit. Those who reached the administration office after incurring additional expenses on transportation, accommodation and food complain that they had to return disappointed after not getting work. Those who urgently need passports for medical treatment, foreign employment and studies have become more worried due to the delay in resolving the problem.

Due to the public holiday declared by the Karnali Provincial Government on the occasion of Sawan Sankranti, no service recipients came to the District Administration Office on Friday. According to the administration, the passport service will be resumed regularly once the problem in the system is resolved.
