A no-confidence motion has been filed against Karnali Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel. 

The opposition Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and Congress lawmakers jointly filed a no-confidence motion on Thursday.  Eleven NCP and five Congress lawmakers jointly filed the no-confidence motion. 

The ruling Nepali Congress left the government on Wednesday.  Four Congress ministers in the government resigned but did not withdraw their support. 

The Karnali Provincial Assembly Secretariat has stated that 16 lawmakers of the 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly have filed a no-confidence motion. They have proposed Congress parliamentary party leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi as the Chief Minister in accordance with Article 188, Clause 5 of the Constitution of Nepal.
