A staff nurse from Dolpa District Hospital, who was involved in treating patients, was herself rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter after facing a complicated obstetric problem.

Sabita Bohora, 28, of Tripurakot, Tripurasundari Municipality–1, who works as a staff nurse at Dolpa District Hospital, was airlifted to Provincial Hospital Surkhet on Thursday under the President Women’s Upliftment Program.

Bohora had been admitted to the district hospital as her delivery date approached. However, as her health condition became increasingly complicated, doctors concluded that a normal delivery at the hospital would not be possible, and she was referred to a better-equipped health facility for further treatment. Chief District Officer Junu Hamal Dhakal said that, based on the doctors’ recommendation, she was rescued by army helicopter under the President Women’s Upliftment Program.

It became necessary to carry out an air rescue after a health worker, who is regularly engaged in the treatment and care of patients, herself faced a complicated obstetric problem. In remote districts, due to the lack of specialist health services and necessary equipment, patients with complicated obstetric and other health issues are being rescued by helicopter when needed.
