The identity of the woman whose body was found in the Karnali River at Dandage, Chaukune Rural Municipality–4, Surkhet, has been established. According to police, the body is that of 18-year-old Sirjana Khadka, a resident of Raskot Municipality–2, Kalikot, who had gone missing after a vehicle accident. Police stated that around 4 p.m. on the 23rd of Asar, the woman's body was found face down in the current of the Karnali River.
The body was kept at the mortuary of the Provincial Hospital, Kalagaun, for examination. Police said that after the deceased's father, Dhan Bahadur Khadka, identified the body at around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, it was confirmed to be Sirjana Khadka. Sirjana had gone missing in the river a few days earlier following a vehicle accident in the Sangetada area of the Karnali Highway. After the accident, all three security agencies had continuously conducted search operations.
Police stated that the necessary legal procedures have been initiated after the body was found.
