The Nepal Army has mobilized a special rescue team of 20 people, including divers, to make the search for the missing force vehicle and its passengers more effective. The army has intensified the search operation after the vehicle and passengers could not be located even five days after the accident.

According to the North-West Frontier Province, a special team including divers has been mobilized to the incident site since Sunday. Earlier, 70 soldiers have been mobilized with rescue equipment and are searching the Karnali River and surrounding areas since Asad 19.

On Asad 18, a force vehicle (number Karnali Province 02-001 Kha 1055) heading from Surkhet to Kalikot fell off the road into the Karnali River in the Sangetada area of the Karnali Highway in Chamundabindrasaini Municipality-7 of Dailekh and went missing. Since then, the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been jointly conducting a continuous search and rescue operation.

However, the search operation is becoming very challenging due to the rapid flow of the Karnali River, deep ravines and murky water, according to the security agencies.

According to the North-West Frontier Province, the search operation has been continued by mobilizing foot patrols, rubber boats, helicopters, drones and divers in the possible areas of the Karnali River from the incident site to Surkhet and Bardiya. The army has stated that the search is also focusing on the possible location where the vehicle could have been swept away by the river flow.

The security agencies have stated that the search operation will be intensified once the river flow and weather conditions become favorable. The condition of the vehicle and passengers who went missing after the accident has not yet been revealed.
