A woman from Gairi Gaun, Jagadulla Rural Municipality-5, Dolpa, has died and six others have been injured in the floods that occurred after continuous rains.
Anandi BK, 56, who was sleeping at home, died after the floodwaters along with mud and debris entered the village in Dhula Khola and surrounding creeks at around 3 am on Sunday, said Anil Raj Giri, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Dolpa.
BK, who was injured in the floods, was rescued and taken to a health post for treatment when she died on the way, DSP Giri said.
Six people, including two children, have been injured in the floods. The injured have been identified as 50-year-old Chauri BK, 44-year-old Reuli BK, 48-year-old Bishnu BK, 15-year-old Niruta BK, 13-year-old Sita BK and 65-year-old Jas BK, according to the police.
They are being treated at the Jhyakot health post. Among the injured, Reuli BK is in a serious condition and has been referred to Jumla for further treatment, according to the police.

According to the injured Bishnu Bik, who was also an eyewitness to the incident, the flood swept them down about 15-16 meters. He said that the flood caused injuries to various parts of the body, including the back and head.
According to the initial police report, the flood damaged a cooperative building, a food warehouse and about 7-8 houses. Locals said that one house was completely damaged and some other houses may have been damaged as well.
