A minibus (Force vehicle) bearing the number Karnali Province-02-001 Kha 1055, which was going from Surkhet to Raskot in Kalikot, fell into the Karnali River from the Karnali Highway at Sangetada, Chamundabindrasaini Municipality-7, Dailekh at 11:30 am on Thursday. Nearly 100 police officers from the District Police Office and surrounding police units have been deployed for the rescue. Six divers from the Armed Police Force have also been deployed to search for the vehicle. However, the crashed vehicle has not been found till late Friday evening. 

The Karnali Province Police Office has stated that the vehicle could not be found for two days due to the difficult terrain, high flow of the Karnali, turbid water, and the place where the vehicle fell in a deep gorge. "The place where the vehicle fell is a 4.5-meter cliff. When the vehicle fell, it was found to have fallen 4.5 meters, breaking trees," said Karnali Police Chief DIG Jayaraj Sapkota. "It is possible to enter the river from there only by using a rope. Since the vehicle fell into a deeper gorge than other places, it was difficult to find the vehicle, especially since the murky water and the river flow were high. "

Five passengers were on board the vehicle of Bulbule Yatayat Pvt. Ltd. that was leaving Surkhet Bus Park at 8 am on Thursday. The police estimate that some passengers also boarded from the middle of the road. However, he informed that it is not yet certain how many passengers were on board since the vehicle did not have an 'entry' at the police posts where the vehicle passed. "We have deployed police for about 5 kilometers downstream from the place where the vehicle fell," said DIG Sapkota. "Even if the vehicle had drifted away, it should have been found, but it was nowhere to be seen." According to him, a search has also been started in possible locations using drone cameras. 

Police had recovered the body of a person stuck on a cliff from the place where the vehicle fell. The body was that of 54-year-old Jokhe Tiruwa of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality-9 in Kalikot, according to the police. 

A team of six divers from the Maheshwori Brigade of the Armed Police Force has also been deployed to search for the vehicle. DIG Krishnaraj Pathak of the Armed Police Force said that even when a team of divers from the surrounding area went underwater, the vehicle was not seen. "The water is completely murky, even though the water flow is high, we are trying our best," he said, "The vehicle was found to have fallen in a place where water is flowing from all sides. The depth is high but the width is small, which is also a problem in the rescue." He informed that it was difficult to find the vehicle even though a team of divers reached 5/6 kilometers below the place where the vehicle is said to have fallen on suspicion of being swept away. According to him, a team of divers from the Armed Police Force has also been called from Kurintar for further rescue. He informed that the team will be mobilized from Saturday morning.
