Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel has directed to mobilize helicopters if necessary to make the search for the vehicle and passengers who went missing after falling into the river on Thursday from the Karnali Highway at Chamunda Bidrasaini in Dailekh more effective.

Chief Minister Kandel on Friday took information from the heads of all four security agencies in Karnali Province about the ongoing search and rescue operations after the accident and urged them to mobilize all available resources to speed up the search. During the discussion, Chief Minister Kandel praised the work being done by the security agencies so far in the search and rescue operations and emphasized that helicopters should be used if necessary. He also directed to expand the search range from Dailekh to the Indian border.

During the discussion, DIG of the Armed Police Force Krishna Raj Pathak informed that divers have been mobilized to the incident site and additional manpower has left from Kurintar. DIG of Nepal Police Jayaraj Sapkota said that the turbid water in the river, the depth of the river and geographical difficulties have added challenges to the search operation. He informed that the search is continuing by mobilizing all available manpower and resources through the collective efforts of all security agencies. The Nepal Army has also been mobilized in the search operation and a search has been started in possible locations using drone cameras, it was informed on the occasion. 

A vehicle bearing the number Karnali Province 02-001 Kha 1055, which was heading from Surkhet to Kalikot on the Karnali Highway at Sangetada, Chamundabindrasaini Municipality-7, Dailekh, fell into the Karnali River about 400 meters below the road. One body has been found after the accident, while the condition of the vehicle and other passengers in it is unknown.
