Chandannath Municipality has used a dozer on the houses built by encroaching on public land near Jumla Airport. The houses built on public land were removed using a dozer after repeated requests to vacate them were ignored.

Locals who were angry at the use of the dozer had reached the district administration. The municipality has stated that it was possible to remove the houses with the help of the police and administration. The houses were demolished under the security of the municipal police and Nepal Police.

Five houses were demolished using a dozer at the airport in Chandannath Municipality-1. Ward Chairman Tilak Prasad Neupane informed that three houses have been warned to vacate within 15 days. He said, ‘The removal of structures built on public land has begun.’ Now, even the structures built in an unorganized manner will be removed.'

He said that dozers will be used on all the huts built on public land from the Bhagwati Temple area of the airport to the upper gate of the airport. According to him, the huts used by the cooperative have been asked to be vacated within 15 days. The cooperative has not even paid the monthly rent of three thousand rupees for one and a half years.

How much public land is there in the city now? Ward Chairman Neupane informed that a study is being conducted to determine how many structures have been built. 'Earlier, five huts were cleared by using dozers,' said Ward Chairman Neupane. 'Now, the dozer will be used only after bringing technicians from the survey office to clear the land.' Those huts were tea shops, grocery stores and hotels. Ward Chairman Neupane said that a model parking lot will be built in the cleared area.

The executive meeting of Chandannath Municipality held on April 17 had decided to remove the houses and huts built on public land that were ruining the beauty of the airport. The meeting decided to demolish the wooden huts and waiting rooms at the airport and make them into parking lots, and to send letters to the people using the huts within 7 days, as the wooden huts and waiting rooms at the airport were in a dilapidated condition.
