Surkhet's Birendranagar Municipality has decided to arrange sports coaches in all community secondary schools within the city with the aim of identifying and developing sports talent from community schools.
Through the policy and program presented at the 19th municipal assembly held on Wednesday, the municipality announced that it would arrange sports coaches in every community secondary school, giving priority to the sports sector.
According to Mayor Mohan Maya Dhakal, the goal is to attract students to sports by creating an environment of regular training at the school level, identify hidden talents, and produce skilled players.
'After the arrangement of coaches, regular sports activities are expected to be conducted in schools, as well as increase student participation and competitive ability in various sports,' she said.
Mayor Dhakal believes that as the local level starts emphasizing on sports infrastructure and training in schools, it will help develop sports culture in the district and produce new players.
