Three people have died in two places while swimming in Surkhet. The deceased are Samjhauna Thapa, 14, daughter of Deepak Thapa, a resident of Pathan Tole, Birendranagar Municipality-10, and Kalpana Rawat, 13, daughter of Man Bahadur Rawat.
They drowned while swimming in the Tuni River on Saturday evening. Upon receiving the news, a 5-member team under the command of Police Assistant Inspector Anil Kumar Shahi from Subbakuna Police Station rescued them and sent them to Karnali Province Hospital in Surkhet. The doctors declared them dead, according to the District Police Office, Surkhet.
Similarly, on Saturday afternoon, Ramesh Pun Magar, 18, who had gone swimming in the Dahatal lake located in Panchpuri Rural Municipality-8 of Surkhet, went missing from Gurans Rural Municipality of Dailekh. DSP Kavindra Singh Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Surkhet, informed that a team of security personnel deployed to search for him found him dead.
