The District Police Office, Salyan, has arrested 27 people on various charges from different parts of the district in the month of Jestha. The police have arrested 27 people, including four on charges of serious crimes such as rape and murder, and 23 on charges of common crimes.

Three on charges of rape under serious crimes, one on charges of attempted murder, two on charges of polygamy under common crimes, four on charges of drug trafficking, seven on charges of indecent behavior, and 11 on charges of banking offenses, said Police Inspector Devraj Bhattarai, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Salyan.

According to him, 15 of the 27 arrested are absconding defendants. The absconding defendants have been sent to prison, while action has been taken against the others.

In the month of June, eight loaded guns were recovered, three hidden in Siddhagufa Community Forest in Chaur, Bangad Kupinde Municipality-12, three hidden in Basneura Community Forest in Nigalchula, and two hidden in Shanti Suraksha Community Forest in Dandasalle, Triveni Rural Municipality-5, informed Police Inspector Bhattarai.

In the month of June, nine vehicles, including seven tractors, one tipper and one JCB, used to illegally excavate gravel and sand from rivers in various parts of the district, and a mini truck and jeep used to illegally transport herbs and wood were seized and handed over to the concerned bodies for necessary action, he said.
