Madan Khadka has won the Karnali Province President of the National Independent Party (RSVP). He was re-elected as the President with 288 votes.
Khadka's rivals Nandakishore Basnet received 35 and Sneha Upadhyay Nepal received 63 votes. The first convention of the RSVP, which began on Monday, was held on Tuesday morning after efforts to select a leader by consensus failed until Monday evening. Khadka is also the founding president of the RSVP Karnali Province. He is considered close to RSVP President Ravi Lamichhane.
Initially, there were 5 aspirants for the presidency. But only 3 had registered their candidacies. Out of 530 delegates who had participated in the convention, 400 had participated in the voting.
After the voting was over, Basnet, the presidential candidate, filed a complaint with the RSVP Central Office and Election Committee to postpone the convention, stating that there was a one-sidedness in the selection of delegates. The counting of votes for other positions is ongoing.
