The Karnali provincial government has announced to run the 'One Local Level, One Agricultural School' program through the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84, prioritizing the modernization and commercialization of the agricultural sector.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Rajiv Bikram Shah said that the provincial government has launched the program for the fiscal year 2083/84 with the aim of providing practical and technical agricultural knowledge to farmers at the local level. According to the budget statement, a program based on the 'Learning and Earning' concept will be run by increasing public awareness about agriculture. Under this, model farms and demonstration plots of natural farming will be established, and the use of organic fertilizers and organic pesticides will be encouraged, he said.

The government plans to expand the use of vermicompost, green manure and micro-organisms through the program. The government has allocated Rs 71.449 million for this program.

The government expects the agricultural school to become an effective medium to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and develop an environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural system. The budget aims to provide farmers with skills, technology and business knowledge at the local level to support production growth and income generation.

The provincial government has promoted this program, which emphasizes capacity development of farmers and job creation along with agricultural production, as one of the major priorities of the agricultural sector for the coming year.
