Eight local levels, including the district headquarters, Khadachakra Municipality, have been declared fully vaccinated and sustainable.
After ensuring that 11 vaccines have been received by children under the age of 5, including 9 for pregnant women and 1 for adolescents, Khadachakra Municipality was declared the eighth fully vaccinated and sustainable municipality in the district on Thursday. Earlier, Mahabai, Pachaljharana, Sannitriveni, Raskot, Tilagufa, Narharinath and Shubhakalika have been declared fully vaccinated and sustainable.
Although children under 15 months of age should have been vaccinated as per the vaccination schedule to protect them from various diseases, there is a provision to declare fully vaccinated children aged 16 to 59 months who have been missed for any reason after completing all the vaccination doses through the local health branch, said Dr. Ratnabir Sunar, Manager of the Health Service Office Kalikot and Member Secretary of the District Vaccination Coordination Committee.
While studying the vaccination coverage of 637 children in all 11 wards of Khadachakra, only one child from Ward 6 was found to be missing, and after that, he was also vaccinated, ensuring that 100 percent of children were vaccinated, said Rabindra Sejuwal, head of the health department of Khadachakra Municipality.
According to him, 594 children up to 11 months of age, 578 children between the ages of 1 year and 23 months, and 700 pregnant mothers have been vaccinated through 13 vaccination centers in the municipality.
Deputy Mayor Ganesh Bahadur Shahi said that complete vaccination has been declared ensured after ensuring that all children in the municipality have been vaccinated. "We have deployed health workers in remote settlements of the municipality and brought all children to the vaccine," he said. "We have also ensured that those who have gone out of the district have been vaccinated by informing their families." Chief Administrative Officer Suresh Raj Joshi said that female health volunteers have been deployed to the homes of children who missed out on vaccination in the drought.
Vaccination Focal Person and Public Health Officer of the Health Service Office, Katak Bahadur Mahat, said that the target is to vaccinate 3,636 children in Kalikot district and that there is a plan to declare the district fully vaccinated by Asad 20.
