The National Independent Party (NISP) is holding its first district convention in Surkhet, Humla, Kalikot and Salyan through the party convention, while leadership is being selected through elections and consensus efforts in other districts. The NISP is holding its first district convention through wards and municipalities. Ramesh Kumar Sapkota has been unanimously elected as the president in the first district convention in Surkhet. Sapkota, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Surkhet constituency number 2, was also the district president before. As for other office bearers, President Sapkota said that discussions are underway on whether to hold elections or decide on a unanimous decision since there are many aspirants among them. Similarly, Laxman Aidy was elected as the Humla president on Saturday. Aidy was previously the vice president. Aidy said that Rinjen Lama was elected as the district vice-president, Manoj Bohara as the secretary, Tirtharaj Budha as the joint secretary, and Kaman Shahi as the treasurer. 

Prakash Nepali was elected as the president of Salyan, while Tikaram KC was elected as the vice-president, Shrikant Rai as the secretary, Hira Yogi as the joint secretary, and Sita Malla as the treasurer, the election committee said. 

Similarly, the district convention held in Kalikot on Saturday has formed a working committee under the chairmanship of Prem KC.  A 13-member working committee including Vice-President Dinesh Shahi, Secretary Bhupendra Shahi, and Joint Secretary Jeevan Bahadur Shahi have been elected as the vice-presidents. 

The party's provincial president Madan Khadka, who is also holding conventions in other districts, informed that the elections will be held on Monday after the consensus efforts in Jajarkot failed.  According to him, the election will be held on Monday. Raghav Karki, Mahesh Singh, Ramesh KC and DN Shahi are aspiring for the post of chairman in Jajarkot.

Voting is underway after four aspirants each for the post of chairman in Rukum West and Dailekh. The contest for the post of chairman is going on between Pustak Chand, Drona Khadka, Tek Bahadur Pun and Pal Bahadur Khadka. Similarly, in Dailekh, an election is being held for leadership between Bini Bahadur Shahi, Mitra Pyakurel, Prakash Budha and Bakhat Bhandari.
