The District Administration Office, Rukum West, has inspected meat shops in the district headquarters, Khalanga and Bagbazar areas today. During the inspection, a fine of Rs 5,000 each has been imposed on 5 shops that did not comply with the prescribed standards.
A total of 11 meat shops in Khalanga and Bagbazar were inspected under the leadership of the District Administration Office in the presence of the Animal Hospital and Animal Service Office and the Industry Consumer Welfare Protection Office, informed Working Branch Officer Tosraj KC.
According to him, shortcomings such as non-renewal of registration of most of the shops, non-issuance of bills and lack of attention to basic hygiene have been found.
‘In the previous inspection, too, problems like this have been found and 5 shops that have been found to be failing to comply have been fined a minimum of Rs 5,000 each,’ he said, ‘We have also warned them not to repeat such mistakes in the future.’
