Kalimati Rural Municipality of Salyan has distributed 152 goats to 76 single women from the Dalit community within the municipality. The municipality has distributed two goats to each.

Kalimati Rural Municipality Chairman Dan Bahadur Khatri said that goats worth Rs. 1.5 million were distributed to single women from the Dalit community so that economically disadvantaged women can become self-reliant by raising goats and expand it into a business.

He informed that the goats were distributed under the Dalit Upliftment Program. According to him, Kalimati Rural Municipality is considered a pocket area for goat farming. Due to the abundant forests and pastures, farmers do not have much problem in cutting grass. Farmers can raise goats with little effort. Goats were distributed so that single women do not have to do difficult work to become self-reliant. He says that the municipality has been organizing various programs every year for the upliftment of the Dalit community.
