Provincial Hospital Surkhet is going to operate OPD services even on public holidays. The hospital has issued a notice and informed that the service will be operated even on holidays.
According to the notice issued by the hospital's director Dr. Ganesh Thapa, OPD services will be available on public holidays such as Republic Day, National Rice Day, Sawan Sakranti and Deuda Festival, Province Establishment and Martyrs' Day, Raksha Bandhan, Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Dhanya Purnima, Christmas Day, Tamu Lhochar, Prithvi Jayanti, Maghe Sakranti, Democracy Day, Women's Day and Gyalpo Lhosar.
The hospital has stated that the service will be operated on the dates decided by the Government of Nepal on the holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr and Bakar Eid.
Along with Karnali, there is a lot of pressure from patients coming from Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces at the provincial hospital. As the pressure of patients has increased due to the holidays on Sundays and Saturdays, it has been decided to operate the OPD even on holidays, informed Anita Gyawali, Information Officer (Deputy Secretary) of Provincial Hospital Surkhet.
She said that this has been done for the convenience of patients. Around 1,500 to 2,000 patients are regularly receiving OPD services from the hospital daily. Information Officer Gyawali said, ‘Due to geographical remoteness, it takes time for patients to reach the provincial hospital. The aim is to ensure that they can receive services once they reach.’ Services will be operated at Provincial Hospital Surkhet even on holidays declared by the Government of Nepal, except Saturdays and Sundays.
