A pregnant woman in critical condition in Bajura has been air-rescued by a Nepali Army helicopter. In coordination with the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, 18-year-old Lalita Nepali of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality-1, Bajura has been brought to Karnali Province Hospital, Kalagaun, Surkhet for further treatment.
The District Administration Office, Bajura, has stated that the pregnant woman was immediately rescued after her health condition became critical. Her husband, Himal Nepali, said that he had to come to Karnali Province Hospital after he had been in labor for 6 consecutive days but the baby had not been born.
‘The referral had to be made because the health institutions in our district lacked the necessary equipment,’ he said. The government has been operating a free air rescue program through the Nepali Army to provide emergency health services to pregnant and postpartum women in critical conditions in remote areas.
