Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has warned of protests from both the House and the streets if the government does not take the suggestions seriously.

Speaking at a press conference organized in Birendranagar on Sunday, he commented that the government's recent activities are against democratic practices. He said that steps like bringing an ordinance and dissolving trade unions have created a situation where people should oppose the government rather than support it.

'We had said that we would support the constitutional amendment or the protection of democracy in a constructive manner,' he said, 'but the latest government steps have created a situation where people should oppose it rather than support it.'

Dahal accused the government, which has a two-thirds majority, of failing to maintain transparency on sensitive issues like the constitutional amendment. He said that bringing an ordinance bypassing the House was an insult to democracy.

He informed that discussions are ongoing among leaders on communist unity. "A policy decision has been made to unite the communists," he said, "but there is no immediate possibility of the parties becoming unified."
