Raskot Municipality has started issuing Permanent Account Number (PAN). Local residents of Raskot, who were forced to spend at least 10,000 to travel to Surkhet or Jumla to get a PAN, have expressed their happiness after now getting the service from the municipality.
Raskot Municipality in Karnali Province, which previously only received PAN numbers from the Inland Revenue Offices in Jumla and Surkhet, has started issuing taxpayer service registration and related administrative services, PAN numbers, from the municipality from Monday, said Mayor Dharmaraj Shahi.
Mayor Shahi said that Raskot has launched the distribution of permanent account numbers to fulfill the government's objective of keeping records of businesses, companies, firms and personal income and helping citizens come under the tax net. According to him, Raskot has now been added to the list of permanent account numbers issued by the Inland Revenue Offices in Surkhet and Jumla.
Bhupendra Kandel, Tax Officer of the Inland Revenue Office, Jumla, said that the service was launched after reaching Raskot and providing orientation on PAN.
Sarita Simkhada Chaulagain of Bhavana General Stores, who was happy after registering a business from one branch in Raskot Municipality and receiving the PAN number service at another branch, said that she finally felt like Singha Durbar was at her doorstep. ‘Citizenship and national identity cards have also started being available from Raskot,’ she said. ‘To run a business, you had to go to Surkhet or Jumla to get a PAN number, but now you can get that from here too.’
