The municipality has organized ear, eye, heart, diabetes, and kidney disease camps at its 6 wards' health posts so that the locals of remote areas do not have to spend a lot of money and travel for long periods of time to Dang, Nepalgunj, and Surkhet for the treatment of some complex diseases and get health services closer to home.
553 people with ear problems, 105 who needed cataract surgery, and 105 who needed services for heart, diabetes, and kidney problems received services in the camp. Darma Rural Municipality Health Branch Chief Yagya Bahadur Basnet said. He informed that according to the ward, 168 people from ward 1, 163 from ward 2, 158 from ward 3, 166 from ward 4, 150 from ward 5 and 160 from ward 6 had availed the services. According to him, out of a total of 905, 543 women and 362 men had availed the services.
Since there is no functioning hospital within the municipality and no other treatment other than general treatment is possible in the health institutions, he said that the municipality has been conducting health camps every year so that the locals do not have to go to Mission Hospital Chaurjahari, District Hospital Salyan, Dang, Nepalgunj, Surkhet for treatment and so that poor families with financial problems do not have to be deprived of health services.
