A woman with complex health problems after giving birth in Humla has been airlifted. 

Sarila Shahi, 45, of Kharpunath Rural Municipality-5, was brought to Surkhet for further treatment after her placenta got stuck and she was bleeding profusely while giving birth at home.

She was referred to Karnali Province Hospital after treatment was not possible at the District Hospital Humla. Humla Acting Chief District Officer Rajendra Kumar Chand said that she was brought to Surkhet on Sunday by a Nepali Army helicopter under the President's Women Upliftment Program. 

He said that Shahi's condition was critical and that an immediate airlift was necessary.
