A father and daughter from Kumakh Rural Municipality-5 Timilkanda have been arrested on charges of murdering 26-year-old Balkrishna Chand of Bhurtibang, Darma Rural Municipality-6.
Police have arrested 65-year-old Dalvire Gharti and his daughter, 39-year-old Sharmila Gharti of Kumakh Rural Municipality-5 Timilkanda on charges of murder.
Chand's body was found in a creek in Thulakhola, Kumakh-5, on the afternoon of last February 30, with his face and left leg missing. The family of the deceased had registered a complaint against the Gharti father and daughter after they appeared suspicious.
According to Police Inspector Devraj Bhattarai, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Salyan, Balkrishna Chand was in love with Sharmila. He had been living in Sharmila's house for the past 6 months. Sharmila had broken off the relationship and was living with her mother.
After learning that he had left his wife at home and was living with his girlfriend, relatives returned Chand home with the help of the police. Even though the family returned him, Chandra went back to live with Sharmila. After he disappeared while living with Sharmila, relatives searched for him and found him dead in a creek in Thulokhola a few days later.
Even after the postmortem of the deceased, it was suspected that he had fallen off a cliff to his death as his body was in a state of decomposition. Police Inspector Bhattarai said that the Gharti father and daughter, who were arrested a week ago on charges of murder, have now been sent to jail and a detailed investigation into the incident is underway. Police Inspector Bhattarai said that the arrested Gharti father and daughter came to their yard and gave a statement saying that they threw Chand into the creek out of fear of being framed for murder after he committed suicide.
