Bhim Bahadur Adhikari of Hima Rural Municipality-7 was going to Surkhet in an ambulance on Wednesday to treat his 71-year-old father Kal Bahadur Adhikari. He had told his relatives that he would treat his father and return home after he recovered.

After he was admitted to the Karnali Health Sciences Institute Teaching Hospital, Jumla for 6 days and did not improve despite treatment, the hospital referred Kal Bahadur to Nepalgunj Hospital in Surkhet for a urology surgery.

Kal Bahadur's son Bhim Bahadur looked for a ship. He had decided to go by ship, but the ship did not arrive due to bad weather, so he took his father to Surkhet in an ambulance on Wednesday evening.

On Wednesday around 1 pm, he posted a status on social media Facebook, 'May the journey from Jumla to Surkhet be auspicious today, as the plane did not arrive in Jumla, so I went by ambulance.' He also shared a photo of himself and his relatives gathering near the ambulance. Now that photo is viral on social media.

He had hoped to have a happy reunion with his family after treating his father and making him well. But unfortunately! He neither got to treat his father nor experience the happy moment of a family reunion. Instead, he got into an ambulance accident and was hospitalized, leaving his father permanently ill.

Police said that the ambulance left the district headquarters Khalanga at 2 pm on Wednesday with the patient. ‘There was thick fog in Kalikot. It was very uncomfortable to drive,’ said Kalikot Police Chief DSP Him Bahadur Khatri, ‘It is initial speculation that the ambulance accident may have occurred due to fog.’

The driver Shakti Bahadur Shahi and Bhim Bahadur Adhikari died after being trapped in the ambulance. The sick father, who was taken for treatment, is currently receiving further treatment at the Kalikot District Hospital in an injured condition.

‘Neither the father was treated, nor did Bhim Bahadur’s dream of getting his father back home after he recovered was fulfilled,’ said Jeevan Rawat of Hima-6, ‘Hima-6 has lost not just a person, but the energetic force of society. It has lost a young force that was passionate about change, thoughtful, and tirelessly dedicated to society.’

Bhim Bahadur was elected as a ward member in 2074 BS. With his death, the village is now discussing his contribution.

An ambulance carrying a patient from Jumla met with an accident in Kalikot at 8:45 pm on Wednesday. According to the Kalikot District Police, the ambulance fell 25 meters off the road and met with an accident.
