The district administration has been without an Assistant Chief District Officer for five months. Shanti Mahat, who was posted as Assistant Chief District Officer by the Ministry of Home Affairs on November 21, is still absent. After her absence, Administrative Officer Min Bahadur Rawal is fulfilling the role.

Mahat, who was posted in the district administration, is currently working at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. Along with her, Branch Officer Reshma Budha is also working at the Criminal Assets Management Department in Singha Durbar. Out of the two administrative officers, only one is working.

The absence of Assistant Chief District Officer Mahat and the Branch Officer is causing problems in the work. With the formation of the new government, the pressure of work has increased. New circulars keep coming every day. The employees said that due to lack of manpower, they have not been able to provide services effectively. Chief District Officer Deepak Poudel said that even though the Janten election was held with a small number of manpower, difficulties are currently being faced.

It has been seen that daily administrative work including citizenship, passport recommendation, peace and security coordination, disaster management in the district administration has been directly affected. Chief District Officer Poudel said that complaints have started increasing as service recipients are not getting services on time. ‘There is a problem in the distribution of work within the office,’ he said, ‘The posts are in Jumla, but the employees are not here.’ This has a big impact on daily work.

A local, Nar Bahadur Budha, said that remote offices are becoming weak due to lack of staff and service recipients are being affected. He said that it is sad that the government has not been able to deploy the transferred Assistant Chief District Officer and Branch Officer for so long. The locals have demanded that the service be made easier by sending employees according to the posts. Administrative Officer Rawal said that the Janten administration service is running.

‘It would have been easier if there were employees according to the posts,’ he said, ‘now it is becoming difficult to provide services.’ There are posts for one Chief District Officer, one Assistant District Officer, and two Administrative Officers, but the Assistant Chief District Officer and one Administrative Officer are not able to come. Currently, there are four deputy sub-district officers, three buyers, two computer operators, and six office assistants in the office.
