Proving the adage that age does not stop education, a 40-year-old ward chairman in Salyan is conducting SEE. Ward chairman of Darma Rural Municipality-5 in Salyan, Sudip KC, is conducting SEE from Nepal National Secondary School Center in Darmakot.

He was a ward member in 2074 and was elected ward chairman in 2079. He left his class 10 studies in 2062 BS and went to India and is conducting SEE after 20 years. ‘While I was studying at that time, I went to India after giving the test exam due to the pressure of my friends.’ He said, ‘I got caught up in various jobs thinking about how to earn money. I did not pay attention to the fact that I should study.’

After working in India for four years and returning, he went to Malaysia for four years in 2066 BS for foreign employment. After returning from there, he bought a JCV and started it. He entered politics after federalism and was elected as a ward member in 2074 BS and ward chairman in 2079 BS.

While working in the ward office, he said that he was enrolling in class 10 at the ward school and appearing for SEE this time. Ward chairman KC said that he would continue his studies in the coming days. He said that despite not going to regular school, he did well on the first and second day of the exam due to studying at home. ‘In this day and age, politics without studies is useless. That is why it is necessary to study,’ he said.

Chairman KC informed that he felt that the examination system has changed compared to the past. ‘Although I felt a little uncomfortable on the first day when I saw the exam with teenagers of my age, I started feeling comfortable because my desire to study is being fulfilled,’ he said. "It's no longer difficult to move forward with the mindset that you have to fulfill your desires no matter what. Everyone has become like friends," he said.
