The body of 16-year-old Inisha BK of Birendranagar Municipality-1 in Surkhet has been cremated after 27 days.
Inisha's family, after receiving the body, performed the last rites in the Bheri River on Thursday. On February 23, Inisha, who had left her home to go to school, was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest, Birendranagar-4. The police, who arrived immediately after the incident, took her to the Karnali Provincial Hospital. However, the doctors declared Inisha dead.
The relatives of the deceased had registered a complaint against four people at the District Police Office, Surkhet, suspecting that she was gang-raped and murdered. On Tuesday, the district court ordered the four to be remanded in custody until the investigation is completed, and the family received the body. Her father Indra Bahadur BK said, "The body was cremated, I hope to get justice."
All four accused are between 16 and 17 years old. Apart from 'Birendranagar-4', the other three are Inisha's classmates. The District Attorney's Office has registered a case of gang rape and murder against all four in the Surkhet District Court under the Criminal Code, 2074 BS.
After the police investigation, the Government Attorney's Office had submitted a 41-page charge sheet to the court. The charge sheet includes statements from 33 people, including the four accused.
