The playground under construction at Rama Secondary School in Narharinath-3, Kumalgaun, has collapsed due to the rain since Tuesday.

The playground, which has been under construction for two years with the cost sharing of the Karnali State Government and Narharinath Rural Municipality, collapsed on Wednesday morning.

The playground was being built at a cost of Rs 7 million at the school, which was at risk from a landslide in 2077. After the school building was at risk of landslide, a wall was built with the help of the Soil and Watershed Conservation Office two years ago. The playground was built on top of the same wall.

When the construction was completed, the playground collapsed due to the rain, putting the school building at risk, said Principal Tapendra Mahatara. ‘The work was 90 percent complete,’ he said, ‘When only the field was left to be leveled, the wall collapsed and became useless.’
