The body of a teenage girl from Rukum West, who went missing 14 days ago, was found in the Sanibheri River today. The body, found near Chibang, Musikot Municipality-13, has been identified as Sapana Oli, 13, of Garalabot, Bafikot Rural Municipality-3, police said.
Oli, who had gone to attend a friend's wedding in the neighborhood across the Sanibheri River from her home on February 25, had gone missing since that night. The bodies of her cousin's two daughters, 12-year-old Urmila and 14-year-old Kalpana, who had gone with her, were found on the riverbank near the village the next morning.
After Sapna went missing, her family and the police continued the search. This afternoon, locals in Chhibang reported to the police after seeing the body in the river and Sapna's relatives were called and identified, said District Police Chief DSP Bed Bahadur Poudel.
'We are investigating the cause of this incident from many angles. And looking at the post-mortem report, it has been found that they drowned while trying to cross the river. If there is anything more to this, it will also be investigated,' he said.
The police have also informed that the body found on the riverbank will be handed over to the relatives after conducting a post-mortem today.
