A case of abetment to suicide has been filed against Bhupendra Kathayat, the husband of Maya Kathayat, who was found dead in the Bheri River.

The father and brother of Maya, who drowned in Bheri with her children last Sunday, have filed a complaint of abetment to suicide against her husband. According to Area Police Office Chhinchu Chief KC, Bhupendra will be arrested and investigated as soon as the complaint is received.

The complaint states that Maya committed suicide by jumping into the Bheri River with her children after being tortured by her husband.

It is suspected that Maya, 38, of Gurbhakot Municipality-12 Piple, jumped into the Bheri River with her 11-year-old daughter Asha and five-year-old son Deepak at around 4:30 pm on Sunday. The bodies of Maya and Asha were found on Monday and Tuesday. The body of five-year-old son Deepak has not been found yet.

Maya's father Baludev Giri has stated in the complaint that he was forced to commit suicide by throwing himself into the Bheri River because he was torturing his daughter and grandchildren by consuming alcohol daily.
