The Public Health Service Office, Jumla, is going to vaccinate 1,277 teenage girls in Jumla against cancer with HPV.

In the campaign that will start from Chaitra 21, 84 schools in 8 local levels of the district have been designated as vaccination centers. According to the school-based vaccination program, teenage girls in the age group of 14 studying in grades 6 to 10 are going to be vaccinated. He said that the HPV vaccination against cervical cancer will be done keeping the health security of the teenage girls in the district in mind.

'The vaccination will be done at the school itself,' said Chief Sharma, 'No teenage girl in the target age group will be deprived of vaccination.'

Gaurinanda Acharya, the head of the District Coordination Committee and coordinator of the Vaccination Coordination Committee, said that a detailed plan has been prepared to make the vaccination campaign effective and a discussion has been held on the implementation strategy. For this, he said, the relationship between the local level, schools and health workers has been made harmonious.

Chandannath Municipality has the highest number of 277 teenage girls. There are 221 people in Patarasi and Hima rural municipalities. 185 in Tila rural municipality, 164 in Tatopani, 177 in Kanakasundari, 135 in Sija and 77 in Guthichowr are eligible for vaccination.

Last year, girls from grades 7 to 10 were included. But this time, the focus has been on grade 6 onwards. Public Health Chief Sharma believes that this will make a significant contribution to reducing cervical cancer in the long term. ‘A meticulous plan has been made to ensure that no girl is left out and that there is no recurrence,’ he said. This campaign is not just focused on vaccine distribution. It has also become an example of increasing awareness of the health of girls and a sense of responsibility at the local level.

The Public Health Service Office in the district has conducted a preparatory operation record and report program for the HPV vaccination service to be run in the current fiscal year. Health workers, the District Vaccination Coordination Committee and media personnel also participated in this.
