Locals had informed the police after Maya's slippers, bag and mobile phone were found on the river bank. Immediately after the incident, a team from the Chhinchu Area Police Office reached the spot. Police said that the mother and daughter's bodies were found during a search, but the son's condition is still unknown. Initial police investigations have revealed that Maya was beaten by her husband. Maya's husband, Bhupendra Kathayat, who has been working in India for a long time, has been driving an auto for the past six months. Police say that the police investigation revealed that Maya and Bhupendra had been arguing since they started driving the auto. Area Police Office Chhinchu Police Chief Prakash KC said that they are investigating after meeting Maya's relatives and family members. 'So far, the son has not been found, and no complaint has been received from anywhere,' he said, 'We have kept the husband under surveillance.'
