In the Himalayan district of Dolpa, invalid votes have decreased in the House of Representatives elections. Data shows that there were approximately 1,500 fewer invalid votes in the 2082 BS elections compared to the 2079 BS House of Representatives elections.
According to the District Election Office, Dolpa, a total of 16,019 votes were cast in the recently concluded House of Representatives election (direct). Out of which, 15,506 were valid and 513 were invalid.
In the proportional representation, 16,544 votes were cast in Dolpa. Out of which, 16,103 votes were valid and 441 votes were invalid, according to the Election Office.
According to the office, a total of 19,837 votes were cast in the 2079 election. Out of which, 17,521 votes were valid and 1,999 votes were invalid.
When compared in this way, it appears that 1,486 fewer votes were invalid in the 2082 election than in the 2079 election. According to District Election Officer Dilkrishna Shrestha, the voter education program, increasing public awareness about the voting process, and facilitation provided at polling stations have helped reduce invalid votes.
