The deposits of 90 people have been confiscated in Karnali Province in the House of Representatives member election. According to Section 71 of the House of Representatives Member Election Act, 2074, the deposits of 90 people will be confiscated as per the provision of ‘the deposit of a candidate who gets less than ten percent of the total votes cast’, the Provincial Election Office has stated.
Of those whose deposits will be forfeited, 24 are in Surkhet and 13 are in Dailekh. There are 10 in Salyan, 6 in Jumla, 6 in Kalikot, and 4 in Mugu. Similarly, 6 in Dolpa, 9 in Rukum Paschim, 8 in Jajarkot, and 4 in Humla are to be confiscated. Karnali Province Chief Election Officer Lal Bahadur Gurung said that there are many famous cases of forfeiture of deposits.
Similarly, 36 candidates from 10 districts could not get even 100 votes, out of 138 candidates across the province. 4 candidates in Salyan, 5 in Jajarkot, 5 in Dolpa, 1 in Mugu, 4 in Jumla and 2 in Kalikot have not even received 100 votes. 24 people have not even received 100 votes. 7 in Surkhet and 4 in Rukum West have not even received 100 votes.
