Four people have been arrested in Birendranagar after the suspicious death of a teenager who left home for tuition on Saturday morning. One person was arrested on Saturday and three on Tuesday after the teenager's family filed a complaint of culpable homicide and rape.

16-year-old Inisha BK of Birendranagar-1 was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest near Shahid Park in Birendranagar Municipality-4 last Saturday. She died while being taken to the provincial hospital for treatment. Her body is currently kept at the hospital.

The family of the deceased has claimed that she was gang-raped. District Police Office spokesperson DSP Mohanjung Budthapa informed that four people have been arrested for investigation. 'We are investigating the incident from all angles. The postmortem report conducted at the provincial hospital has not yet come,' he said. 'Those arrested are minors. Their statements have not started.'

According to the police, a team of three experts has been called to Surkhet from Bheri Hospital Nepalgunj for a re-postmortem and further investigation. Inisha's father is in Dubai for employment after retiring from the Nepali Army. The deceased's older brother also died about 6 years ago. Inisha had been living with her mother and brother. Their permanent home is Gurbhakot, and they also have a house in Birendranagar.

According to the family, Inisha left home at around 6 am on Saturday, saying she was going to study tuition. When she reached the community forest after receiving information about the incident, she was found in a pool of blood. District Police Chief SP Sudhir Raj Shahi said that the truth of the incident will be revealed after the post-mortem report comes.

Rights organizations in the district have submitted a letter of attention to the district administration, District Police Office and other bodies, demanding a serious investigation and action. "A very tragic, inhuman and condemnable incident has taken place. It is necessary to conduct a fair investigation and bring the culprits involved to justice," said INSEC Karnali Province Coordinator Narayan Subedi. "The administration should provide speedy justice to the victim's family. It is necessary to further strengthen effective security arrangements, surveillance and awareness-raising programs to prevent sexual violence and crimes against women and girls."
