Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) District President Man Bahadur Shahi has resigned from his post. He announced his resignation on Monday after being defeated in the House of Representatives election.
Posting a status on Facebook, he wrote, 'I have submitted my resignation from the post of Rastriya Swatantra Party Rukum West District President to the Provincial President from today, taking full responsibility for the failure to make the Rastriya Swatantra Party win from Rukum West in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21.'
Shahi, who contested from Rukum West, had secured fourth place with a total of 4,076 votes. According to the House of Representatives Election Act, his deposit has also been forfeited as per the provision that the deposit of a candidate who gets less than 10 percent of the total votes cast is forfeited.
