The bail of 9 out of 12 candidates who filed their candidacies in Rukum West in the House of Representatives elections has been forfeited.

Apart from the defeated Congress candidate Raju KC and Progressive Democratic Party (PRLP) candidate Janardan Sharma, the bails of others have been forfeited.

Those whose bails will be forfeited include UML's Nandaram Devkota who got 1,869 votes, Rashtriya Janamorcha's Man Bahadur Shahi who got 4076 votes, RPP's Gopal Khadka who got 228 votes, CPN-Maoist's Chandra Bahadur Budha who got 336 votes, Rastriya Janamorcha's Satyanarayan Shrestha who got 170 votes, Ujjwal Nepal Party's Narendra KC who got 84 votes, CPN-United's Sher Bahadur KC who got 54 votes, Aam Janata Party's Prema Damai Nepali who got 45 votes, and NEMKIPA's Dhan Bahadur BK who got 15 votes, informed Sashiram Bista, an employee of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

According to Section 71 of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074, 'There is a provision that the bail of a candidate who gets less than ten percent of the total votes cast shall be forfeited.' In Rukum West, a total of 62,539 votes were cast, with 59,523 votes cast.

Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Gopal Sharma won the election by securing 21,609 votes in this district, which has only one constituency. KC was followed by Congress' Raju KC with 16,661 votes, while Pralopa's Janardan Sharma came third with 14,346 votes.

After the deadline for withdrawal of candidatures passed, UML candidate Devkota and Ujjwal Nepal Party candidate Narendra KC had made their candidacies inactive, saying they would support Pralopa's Sharma. However, some votes have been received in their favor. And the bail of these two has also been forfeited.
