A mother and newborn baby have been rescued from the Himalayan district of Dolpa. The baby born to 18-year-old Karuna Dangi, a resident of Thulibheri Municipality-8, and Unal was rescued this morning.

The baby born at the Jufal Health Post was in critical condition after being unable to breathe and was rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter and taken to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet for further treatment, according to the District Hospital Dolpa.

The newborn was referred to Surkhet because he had difficulty breathing and needed to be kept in the NICU. Due to the lack of NICU facilities at the Dolpa District Hospital, patients of this nature have been referred out of the district time and again.
