It has been taking the entire day for residents of Chhepka, located in Shey-Phoksundo Rural Municipality-8 in the Himalayan district of Dolpa, to cast their votes.
As the polling station is far from the settlement, it takes the residents of Chhepka a whole day to return after voting.
The center located in Taprija Secondary School, Sayal, has been designated for voters here. Norbu Lama, a local voter of Chhepka, said that since the past, they have been forced to walk all day to reach the polling station to exercise their right to vote.
There are about 30 voters in this village. 'After walking in the morning to vote in every election, they can only reach home at night. The elderly have to go there the day before and stay there, otherwise they cannot reach home after voting,' said Lama. He said that some elderly people do not go to vote because they cannot walk all day.
He said that it would be easier for them if another center was established nearby to include voters from villages including Chhepka Renchi. The other polling station in this ward has been designated in Rigmo village. The total number of voters across both polling stations is 252.
