Cardiotocography service has been started at the District Hospital, Salyan. The cardiotocography service has been started at the District Hospital to check the heartbeat of the fetus.

After the cardiotocography service was started, it has become easier to check the heart rate of pregnant women in the district. Pregnant women who were forced to go to Dang, Nepalgunj and Surkhet to check the heart rate of their unborn child will no longer have to go outside the district, said Dr. Arjun Budha Magar, head of the District Health Service Office, Salyan.

He informed that the department has provided one machine for operating the service and another was purchased from the district. For a decade, the 15-bed district hospital, established in 2044 BS, has been performing surgical deliveries for those with complex problems. 'This has prevented maternal deaths, but it has not reduced fetal deaths. The cardiotocography service had to be started to prevent fetal deaths,' he said.

Since the cardiotocography service was started, the heart rate of 25 unborn children has been checked in a week, said Dr. Budha Magar, head of the district health service. The service is currently operating in the 15-bed district hospital with the support of various agencies and its own resources.
