A revolving fund has been established in memory of Karnali's educational leader Singharaj Shahi.

The Akshaya Kosh was established on Saturday, the 13th death anniversary of Singha Raj Shahi, the first secondary school first grade teacher in the former Karnali zone.

An Akshaya Kosh of Rs 110,000 was established in collaboration with Shahi's family and the school to provide scholarships to children from underprivileged communities who are unable to attend school due to lack of educational materials and are forced to drop out of school midway. Shahi's eldest son Ramesh Kumar said that the interest earned from the money deposited in the Akshaya Kosh will provide scholarships to poor, underprivileged and talented children.

Shahi, of Raskot 5, Kalikot, who was suffering from vascular and heart disease, passed away on Magh 5 at the age of 66. Pushparaj Baral, principal of Badimalika Secondary School, said that they aim to increase the fund by coordinating with other educational stakeholders.

Shahi, who taught for 34 years at Mahadev Secondary School Foikot and Badimalika Secondary School Syuna Raskot, served as the principal of secondary schools for 21 years. Raskot Municipality had declared a one-day mourning period for all educational institutions within the municipality on the death of Sihanraj, who was known as 'Headser' in Kalikot. He retired from Badimalika Secondary School, the oldest in Kalikot (established in 2032), as a first-class (secretary-level) secondary school teacher in 2066.
