The vice-chairmen of Jagadulla and Mudkechula rural municipalities in the Himalayan district of Dolpa have said that they are working to convince everyone in the municipality.

They, who spent two days from Dolpa to vote in the National Assembly elections, say that everyone is being treated equally in the distribution of plans in the municipality, not on the basis of party affiliation. 'We have treated everyone equally as if they were weighed in a scale,' said Jagadulla Rural Municipality Vice-Chairperson Amrita Rokaya, 'The policy does not allow discrimination when working in our villages, and one should not deceive anyone after becoming a public representative.'

She said that although she wanted to be the municipality chairperson, her age did not allow her to do so. 'Age has taken its toll, now she has to give her turn to others.' She became the vice-chairperson for two terms. Now she cannot be in the same position for more than two terms,' she said. Amrita, who is over 70, says that it was very difficult to work as the deputy chief in her first term. 'No one taught her how to work in the beginning,' she said. 'Now we have become much more understanding.' Our sisters cannot walk, but we are doing public work.'

Duda Rokoy, 60, vice-chair of Mudkechula Rural Municipality, says she is now thinking of giving her turn to other women. 'All women should get a turn in such work,' she said. 'Women from our area have started showing interest in politics after seeing us.'
