Two candidates who had filed their candidacies for the House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21 have withdrawn their candidacies.
Santosh Kumar Rai, a resident of Sharda Municipality-3, who was a candidate from the Progressive Loktantrik Party (PRALOPA), and Mansinge Kami of the Aam Janata Party withdrew their candidacies by going to the main election office on Friday.
Kami, who withdrew his candidacy, did not reveal who he would support, while Rai of the PRALOPA said he would support UML candidate Gulab Jung Shah. Rai, who had filed his candidacy from the PRALOPA, has also announced in a statement that he has returned to his old party, the UML.
